When Britt “The Britch” Westbourne was last seen on General Hospital in 2023, she went out a hero by saving Josslyn’s life. As a result, she left behind a redemption arc that surprised long-time viewers. Now she’s alive again and caught up in the intrigue surrounding Josslyn and Vaughn’s WSB adventure, with Jason back in the picture and a mysterious boss pulling the strings. Kelly Thiebaud, who has slipped in and out of Port Charles since 2012, admits she had some doubts before agreeing to resurrect Britt.
Fear of Opening Old Doors
For Thiebaud, the decision to return wasn’t simple. She explained to Woman’s World, “I knew if I did come back, I didn’t want to play Britt’s evil twin or another character.” She further noted that because Britt had been killed off, she didn’t think resurrecting the character was even an option. The actress added, “I was also kind of afraid to open that door again. Will the magic still be there?”
That magic included the budding romance between Britt and Jason, a storyline cut short when Steve Burton exited the show in 2021. Thiebaud recalled that Britt and Jason’s fleeting romance didn’t end satisfactorily, with more of the couple’s story to tell. “We gave viewers something that started to become interesting, exciting, and maybe romantic,” she stated, adding, “and then it got taken away from everyone. We want to give that back to them.”

Finding Balance Between The Britch and Britt
Though she died redeemed, Britt’s salty persona isn’t entirely gone. “We’re kind of leaning more toward The Britch these days,” Thiebaud said. She referred to The Britch as having a “spikiness” that the actress loved. But she wouldn’t want to play her character as surly all the time because she put in a great deal of work redeeming the character. Thus, with Britt’s change for the better, Thiebaud remarked, “Let’s not lose that. I want the best of both worlds.”
As for how Britt survived her apparent death, Thiebaud teased that the reveal will be worth the wait. “Some scenes are coming up with Kathleen Gati (Obrecht) that will reveal a bit, and it’s intense.” She felt that the explanation of how exactly Britt didn’t die would be fascinating to the fans, and they would love it. She remarked that ultimately, “It’s not some crazy, outlandish story…it actually makes sense!”
