On General Hospital, Jason has been Port Charles’ most lethal enforcer, working for mafia don Sonny for nearly three decades. However, he was presumed dead from 2021 to 2024. But, it turned out he was under the thumb of demented FBI agent John Cates. After freeing himself from Cates’ control, Jason’s gone back to work for Sonny. He’s also taken up some solo missions outside of the mob. He recently beat the crap out of Drew when he learned Drew slept with his nephew Michael’s wife. His portrayer, Steve Burton, recently discussed the fracas on his podcast.
Touring Puts Them in Touch With Fans
Burton and castmate Bradford Anderson, who plays tech guru Damian Spinelli, often tour as Stone Cold and the Jackal, their characters’ nicknames that Spinelli created. The two also co-host a podcast called Daily Drama, and in a recent “Early Release” of one of their episodes, they explained one of the fun things they get to do while touring is meeting the fans in person and finding out what they like about GH.
Anderson stated, “We get to hear what [the fans] like and what they don’t like. And we try to play into that a bit…with our show.” Burton agreed, and Anderson continued by explaining that there were a couple of current stories on the soap that fans wanted to know more about, one of which was the death of Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). “The most pressing thing at the beginning of the week was the punch,” he remarked about the other topic they wanted to discuss.

The Beating Was Well-Deserved
Burton chimed in with, “Yes…this is what everybody has been loving. Poor Cameron.” Anderson echoed Burton’s words, saying, “Yes, poor Cameron,” referring to Cameron Mathison, who plays Drew Quartermaine on GH. Burton expounded on the fan love, stating, “Everybody has thanked me,” as Anderson giggled and continued relaying what’s been said to him by the viewers: “Thank you for punching Drew. Do it again.”
In the harrowing scene they referenced, Jason waited for him at the Quartermaine mansion. When Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) walked in, Jason wasted no time in pummeling his brother into a bloody pulp. While the two duked it out, Jason clearly dominated the fight with some exceptional stunt work. In a Facebook conversation where fans reacted to the beating, the majority agreed that Drew deserved it, with one commenting, “Michael is like a son to him. Don’t forget he’s also grieving the loss of Sam. Drew wasn’t surprised. He knows he deserved it, too.”
We’d love to see more action with Jason on the show!
