While Carly often seems to be in everybody’s business on General Hospital and inserts herself into several storylines, fans wondered why she was entertaining guests recently while seated. She had been to California to stay by Sonny’s side while he had surgery, and had also been in communication with Nina about their plot against Drew. Did she overexert herself being in so many scenes? The answer will surprise you.
It Just Popped Out
Soap Opera Digest published an interview with Carly’s portrayer, Laura Wright, who explained the situation. She had been playing pickleball and did a tricky maneuver to do a backhand move. However, “I crossed my leg over, and my knee popped out of joint, and back in,” she remarked, adding, “it didn’t stay out, it just popped out and back in real quick.”

Wright noted that she was sore and didn’t think it was anything major. However, it affected her ability to play the game as she explained that side-to-side movements were difficult, but forward and backward motion was fine. She used some ice and a knee brace and was able to walk all around the Indian Wells tennis tournament.

The Fans Could Relate
But, with her range of motion limited, she explained that in order to set up the shots, it was simpler to have Carly seated, considering it was in her kitchen and she could stand or sit as she pleased. After the interview, the GH star posted it on X, formerly Twitter, further commenting, “Here’s what happened – the end of February I was playing singles Pickleball with Wes. I injured my knee- got an MRI – slight tear in the meniscus and the ACL no surgery needed -doing some physical therapy.”
She concluded with, “And in time I will be back !! I was just dinking at the court on Monday.” Wright’s fans wished her a speedy recovery. And many could relate to her injury with one responding, “I tore my calf muscle playing badminton with my daughter on uneven terrain. I feel your pain!”
