Here’s What You Need To Know About Dustin On General Hospital

From 2019 to 2020, Mark Lawson played Dustin Phillips on General Hospital. His name has come up recently because Lulu Falconeri emerged from her coma. One of the last things she remembered before the blast that rendered her comatose was learning that her then-boyfriend Dustin died as a result. Here’s a refresher on Dustin, to help jog your memory or acquaint you with the short-lived Port Charles resident.

Teacher by Day

Dustin was a teacher by day and ride-share driver by night. He was single and joined an online dating service where he was paired with Lulu. He had no idea that she was a reporter who was trying to flush out a guy that had been setting up meetings with women on the service, then not showing up because he was too busy robbing their homes. Dustin was kind of disappointed that Lulu wasn’t a real date, but Lulu was happy he wasn’t the criminal.

Sometime later, Lulu and Dustin literally bumped into each other, and she spilled a drink on him. He joined her and Maxie (Kirsten Storms), and learned Lulu was sad because she was getting a divorce. Eventually, Maxie set things up so that Dustin would be the driver who took them to a wine tasting event. The two would soon find a connection, and begin dating.

Hero by Night

At one point, Lulu took Dustin to see her ship, The Haunted Star, because he had a fascination for all things nautical. They hit it off so well that they ended up dancing between the sheets in one of the staterooms.  Although he was a mild-mannered schoolteacher, Dustin jumped into action when the need arose: once in defense of Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) who was being harassed by sleazy record producer Linc (Dan Buran), and another time he dispatched a gunman on the pier, saving the lives of Josslyn (Eden McCoy), Michael (Chad Duell), and Sasha (Sofia Mattsson).

Eventually, Dustin and Lulu fell in love with each other, but when her ex-husband Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) returned home from a deep cover mission for the WSB, it threw a monkey wrench into Lulu’s plan for Dustin to move in with her. Later, as they were eating at the Floating Rib restaurant, Dustin proposed to her, after having gotten Dante’s blessing. Sadly, a bomb went off killing several people including Dustin, and landing Lulu in a coma that lasted four years. Many students, including Josslyn, later had a nice memorial for Dustin at their school. (Learn about Lawson’s obsession with kettlebells.)
