GH Star Laura Wright Talks About Jason Being the Love of Carly’s Life

At the General Hospital Creation Entertainment event last weekend in Burbank, California, Laura Wright, Maurice Benard, Cynthia Watros, and other GH actors took to the stage to answer the burning questions attendees had about their favorite show and characters. Among the topics that came up was the presumed dead Jason Morgan, played by Steve Burton.

One fan asked Wright if Jason was the love of Carly’s life? “I wouldn’t say ‘the love of her life,'” the actress responded. “She didn’t have a ‘life’ with Jason. He was always ‘the friend.’ When they thought they were going to [spend their lives together], Sonny came back. What I find amazing about that storyline is that [Sonny and Carly] were apart for nine months. She started to create a life [without him]. He [also] had a whole other experience.”

This all begs the question about Sonny and Carly, “who are these people right now?” Wright points out. “I love it. I think it’s fascinating.” But as for Jason being the love of Carly’s life, Wright says, “I don’t know the answer to that question because I don’t think she got to experience that part. She thought the love of her life [Sonny] was dead.”

Laura Wright Talks How Jason’s Death Affects Carly/Sonny

It’s possible that one reason Sonny and Carly have drifted apart is that Jason is no longer in their lives. “This is happening when Jason’s gone,” Wright points out. “Without that third part, their lives have fallen apart. I think there’s a part of Sonny who doesn’t know how to function without Jason.”

Benard weighed in on the whole Jason/Carly pairing, sharing that someone near and dear to him had it all figured out. “[It’s] Jason for sure,” Benard said. “Ask my [late] dad. He knew that for five years.”
