General Hospital star Cameron Mathison is thrilled about a new experimental medical treatment that might be able to save his hip, and he’s happily sharing the news with fans.
In a new video shared on Instagram, Mathison, who plays Drew Cain on GH, but also played Ryan Lavery on All My Children, explains his health problems through the years and how he was diagnosed with a bone disease as a child that has affected him his entire life.
“Teaming up with R3 Stem Cell to benefit from their incredible technology,” Mathison wrote alongside the video. “When I was 2 1/2 years old, I was diagnosed with a degenerative bone disease called Legg Calve Perthes disease. My whole life, they told me I would need hip replacements at a fairly young age. Teaming up with R3 Stem Cell is giving me a fighting chance to delay that, or even prevent it altogether. Here we goooooooo! #stemcell #stemcelltherapy #health #alternativemedicine”
Mathison went on to explain that Legg Calve Perthes caused him not to walk until he was 7 years old. The condition resulted in immune and gut issues through the years. The actor also battled renal cancer in 2019, in which he had surgery to remove a portion of his right kidney.
Mathison included stills of him receiving the new RS stem cell treatment via injections straight into his hip, explaining that he is also the brand ambassador. The handsome star admitted that before this treatment opportunity came along, he was getting ready for hip replacement surgery. He also promised to share more about the treatment as it progresses.
