Cyrus has had big year on General Hospital. He got out of prison, which could be a major problem for the residents of Port Charles. Luckily, the same can’t be said for Jeff Kober.
And that’s because he was born on December 18, 1953, which means this fan-favorite is turning 70 years old today. Kober relocated to Los Angeles in his early twenties, dreaming of becoming an actor. (Check out these things about him.)
He found work on the set of the science fiction mini-series V (1984), though his role went unbilled. Next, he guest-starred in episodes of Highway to Heaven (1985), and The Twilight Zone (1985), before making his film debut in the crime drama Out of Bounds (1986).
A recurring part on Falcon Crest (1986-1987) and a guest stint on MacGyver (1987) followed. Kober continued to work in both film and television series throughout the late 1980s and the whole of the ’90s.
His credits from that period include an episode of Ohara (1987), made-for-TV movies like Laguna Heat (1987), Ned Blessing: The True Story of My Life (1992), and Keep the Change (1992), and features such as Viper (1988), Alien Nation (1988), Lucky Stiff (1988), The First Power (1990), and The Hit List (1993).
Between 1988 and 1991, Kober starred as Sgt. Evan “Dodger” Winslow in the period medical drama China Beach opposite Dana Delany and Marg Helgenberger. He also gained a large fan base for his work as the vampiric Daedalus in Kindred: The Embraced (1996).
Kober’s other notable roles include Jacob Hale, Jr. on Sons of Anarchy (2009-2013), Joe on The Walking Dead (2014), and Harris Keane on NCIS: Los Angeles. He has been playing Cyrus Renault on GH since February 5, 2020. In 2022, the actor took home the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series for his role on the soap.
Kober is a renowned artist, and his own paintings were used to represent works attributed to his Daedalus character. He also co-authored the book Art That Pays: The Emerging Artist’s Guide to Making a Living.
Kober has been married to Adele Slaughter since December 31, 2013. He has one child, a son, with his first wife, Rhonda Talbot.
Soap Hub would like to wish Jeff Kober a very happy birthday. Also, share your favorite memory of his work or if you’ve met him personally in the comments section.
