General Hospital Star Cynthia Watros Celebrates Her Birthday

General Hospital’s Nina Reeves has found the perfect man for her — she’s managed to alienate most of his family in the process. And while Nina is trying to do the right thing, actress Cynthia Watros is celebrating a milestone moment.

Happy Birthday, Cynthia Watros

And that’s because she was born on September 2, 1968, in Lake Orion, Michigan, which means that this soap-hopping fan favorite is turning 54 years old today! Fresh from obtaining her BA degree in Theater from Boston University, Watros landed her first professional acting credit: “Reporter” in an episode of New York Undercover.

Afterward, she joined the cast of CBS’s Guiding Light in the role of Nurse Annie Dutton. Originally a heroine and the intended love interest for Robert Newman’s Joshua Lewis, Watros garnered a great deal of critical acclaim (and a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress) for a storyline in which Annie succumbed to madness — the result of losing Josh to his true love, Reva Shayne.

Off her four years in daytime, Watros turned her attention to primetime series and quickly landed a starring role on a sitcom. For two years, she played Erin Fitzpatrick, the fiancée of the title character Titus.

Following Titus’s cancellation, Watros took on the role of Kellie Newmark on The Drew Carey Show, a gig that lasted another two years. Between 2005 and 2006, Watros played Libby Smith on the ABC thriller Lost.

The actress’s resume includes parts in several films — including Café Society, His and Hers, P.S. Your Cat Is Dead, and Electrik Children — and a plethora of guest appearances on series like Spin City, Profiler, A Nero Wolfe Mystery, Raines, In Plain Sight, and CSI.

Her other daytime credits include a brief turn as Another World’s Vicky Hudson and her one-year tenure at Y&R, where she originated the role of Kelly Andrews. She has played GH’s Nina Reeves since June 17, 2019 — a role she assumed from incumbent actress Michelle Stafford.
