Though Nurse Amy Driscoll — General Hospital’s lovable, gossip — hasn’t been seen for a little while, the woman who portrays her, Risa Dorken, has been busy living her life and gearing up to celebrate a very special milestone.
That’s because she was born on February 4, 1990, in Apple Valley, Minnesota, which means that this talented performer is turning 34 years old today! Dance classes and vocal lessons led Dorken to develop a taste for acting.
From the time she was 8, she worked in her local community theater as well as the Minneapolis Children’s Theatre. Upon graduating high school, Dorken relocated to New York to attend a two-year conservatory program in musical theatre.
Afterward, when she wasn’t auditioning for the latest Broadway show, Dorken worked as an extra in feature films — The Wolf of Wall Street and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty were among the many — and television programs like Boardwalk Empire, The Carrie Diaries, and Gossip Girl.
A move to the west coast, and her classically-trained voice, resulted in Dorken’s hiring at ABC’s General Hospital where she has played Nurse Amy Driscoll on a recurring basis since May 4, 2016.
Dorken’s other credits include cameos in Deadly Sins, Restaurant Stakeout, All Wifed Out, Pillow Talk, and the CBS comedy Life in Pieces, which starred fellow soap star Hunter King.
Since June of 2017, Dorken has been married to Bo Clark, a fellow actor whom she met during the second year of her conservatory program. The couple dated and moved into an apartment together while in New York and made the decision to move to Los Angeles together.
Soap Hub would like to wish Risa Dorken a very happy birthday and you can too by clicking on the X (formerly Twitter) link below. Also, share your favorite memory of her work or if you’ve met her personally in the comments section.
