Daytime Stars Mourn Late General Hospital Costumer Bob Miller

Bob Miller, who served as General Hospital’s award-winning costumer in the 1990s, has died. Now, GH stars, including Jon Lindstrom and Sarah Brown, along with The Bold and the Beautiful alumna Maeve Quinlan, are sharing stories about the man who brought so much to daytime.

Bob Miller: Always in Fashion

Miller’s husband, Steven Howard, shared the news of Miller’s passing on a GoFundMe page, which Quinlan set up in order to help the couple deal with medical expenses. (Now, any donations will be put towards funeral expenses.) “I have very sad news,” Howard wrote. “Bob passed away at 12:45 pm this afternoon [Saturday, December 9]. I was holding him while the caregiver was changing the sheets, and I saw him take his last breath.

“We were together, and I was able to keep my promise to Bob; that when he died he would be at home with me and Fred (our 18-year-old cat),” Trevor continued. “By this past weekend, Bob was failing a great deal. If he was going to pass away so soon after this past weekend, I am grateful. I am grateful that Bob never knew that we had to put Freddie to sleep on this past Monday. I want to thank every single one of you for your sense of compassion, your emotional support, your kindness, your prayers, and donations.”

“So saddened to learn of the passing of the great Bob Miller,” shared Jon Lindstrom (Kevin; ex-Ryan). “Bob was a brilliant costume designer and was even responsible for the look of Kevin Collins when he appeared on [General Hospital]. I believe it was Bob‘s idea that Kevin would never wear a white shirt, something that is still rare today.

“He and his partner Steve…worked very closely together, so much so that we named the fictitious designer who dressed #LucyCoe so beautifully for the #NursesBall, ‘Bob Steve,'” Lindstrom continued. “Bob was impressed my cousin was #Donfeld, a 4-time Oscar-nominated costume designer. Don was frankly pretty impressed with Bob and Steve’s work.”

In addition to being GH’s costumer in the 1990s, he also took on that role on GH spinoff Port Charles from 1997 to 1999. His other credits include The Flash (1990), Dallas, Fame, and, more recently, Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial. Quinlan worked with Miller on the Lifetime movie Fit to Kill. “Along with Bob’s husband, his loved ones, and all who have the utter pleasure of working with him, I am devastated over the loss of Bob Miller,” Quinlan tells Soap Hub. “He was not only at the very top of his industry, boasting five consecutive Daytime Emmys [from 1995 to 1999], but he was also one of the funniest people I have ever met, and he was a tremendous friend to me.

“I was so blessed to work with Bob on Fit to Kill, a movie about the fashion industry, and to say he designed the most amazing costumes/wardrobe I have ever worn on a shoot is an understatement,” Quinlan continues. “His professionalism knows no bounds, and neither did his humor. My favorite memory of Bob is both of our stomachs aching with laughter about a million times throughout the workday. We became fast friends,  confidantes, and besties. I will miss him so very much. Heaven just got another angel.” Soap Hub sends sincere condolences to Trevor, Miller’s family, and friends at this difficult time.
