Though it’s been nearly four years since Tyler Christopher bid his daytime audience adieu, the ever-popular actor is celebrating a very special milestone.
Happy Birthday, Tyler Christopher
That’s because he was born on November 11, 1972, in Joliet, Illinois, which means that this talented performer is turning 50 years old today! After two years at Ohio Wesleyan University, Christopher moved to Los Angeles hoping to pursue an acting career.
Although his initial search for an agent and roles in either film or television or even an appearance on the stage proved fruitless, a second trial period in 1995 eventually resulted in Christopher landing the part of Nikolas Cassadine on the ABC daytime drama General Hospital.
He made his on-screen debut July 15, 1996, and remained until June of 1999 when he chose to not renew his contract. Christopher went on to appear on a number of popular primetime programs as a guest star including The Pretender, Charmed, JAG, and Felicity.
After four years away, Christopher returned to GH as Nikolas — replacing his replacement, Stephen Martines. In 2011, ABC let Christopher go after he landed a role on the primetime series The Lying Game, though a deal was eventually reached that allowed him to appear on both shows.
However, following protracted negotiations with the brass in 2016, he again left GH. Ironically, this would be the year that after four-time Daytime Emmy nominations, Christopher would win a statuette in the Outstanding Lead Actor category.
Fourteen months later, he joined the cast of Days of our Lives and made his debut as Stefan O. DiMera on December 29, 2017. He continued to be seen on the soap until March 20, 2019. That same year, he would get another nomination for lead actor under his belt.
