Adam, played by Maurice Benard’s son, Joshua Benard, survived his suicide attempt on General Hospital, but the actor is wrapping up his stint as Joss’s troubled college pal. The good news is the door is being left open for Adam’s return.
After making a few appearances on GH as Joss and Trina’s (Tabyana Ali, read our exclusive interview with her here) college pal Adam, GH expanded his role and gave Benard an emotional arc to play. In it, Adam, who was pre-med, deeply lamented not performing up to the standards his parents expected from him.
The pressure got to him and Adam took off with his roommate’s vodka and attempted to check out. Fortunately, Joss (played temporarily by Courtney Fulk) found him in time and got him to General Hospital. With help from his friends, Adam came to realize he needed to live his life for himself and not in order to live up to the expectations of others.
Soap Opera Digest confirms Benard’s exit, but there’s always the chance that the actor could return to the show. In other casting news, William Lipton is returning as Cameron Webber. Check out our last interview with Lipton from December here.
