Chris McKenna’s run as Jack officially came to a brutal end on General Hospital, with the WSB chief found dead in the Metro Court pool before Drew and Ava quickly made the situation even messier. McKenna finished filming months ago, so he had time to process the exit before viewers saw Jack’s final scenes. Now that the episode has aired, he is thanking fans for their support for both him and the character.

Key Takeaways

  • Chris McKenna thanked GH fans after Jack Brennan’s death aired.
  • McKenna finished filming months earlier and had time to process his exit before viewers saw Jack’s final scenes.
  • Fans responded with praise for McKenna and frustration over losing his version of Jack.

Chris McKenna Thanked GH Fans

McKenna posted on X, formerly Twitter, writing, “Hey, everyone. Just want to say how moved I’ve been by the support you’ve shown me and Jack. As you now know, I left the show months ago, wrapped in June. I’ll say more once my exit interview runs. Until then, from the bottom of my heart- Thank You. #GH #Brennan.”

The message was simple and heartfelt, for fans still processing the sight of Jack floating face-down in the Metro Court pool.

The timing made the post especially poignant. Jack’s death became official in the September 1 episode, after Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) found his body and fled before anyone could call for help. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ava (Maura West) then discovered him, realized the sleeping pill could lead straight back to them, and decided the obvious next step was corpse removal.

McKenna later opened up more about the exit and admitted he had mixed feelings about how things ended. “I’m really grateful. It’s disappointing how it’s ending right now, but this was a gift,” he said.

Fans Made It Clear Jack Will Be Missed

McKenna also made it clear that his time on GH meant a great deal to him personally and professionally. He appreciated getting to play a morally gray character and was proud of the work he did, even while wishing Jack had gotten more story in a few areas. His exit may have closed the book on Brennan, but the actor certainly did not sound bitter about the experience.

He also acknowledged how overwhelming the fan response became after word of his departure leaked. He only played Jack for about 18 months, but viewers embraced his version of the character quickly enough that the reaction surprised him.

Fans filled McKenna’s post with messages of support and frustration over the exit. One viewer wrote, “Can I just say it won’t be the same without you 😢. I truly enjoyed watching you as Jack,” while another said, “You’ll be greatly missed. You did a wonderful job with YOUR character, Jack!”

A third summed up the mood with, “A huge loss to the show. Hope you’re on to bigger and better things.”
