On the heels of Kelly Monaco’s surprising exit from General Hospital comes another shocker as Chad Duell also announced his departure. He gave no reason for it but explained that his decision to do so was difficult. Executive producer Frank Valentini responded by stating that he wouldn’t recast Duell’s character Michael Corinthos (for now), but promised a fantastic exit for the legacy character. The actor’s castmates responded to the news which has fans devastated.
Sibling Love
Duell’s announcement was met with love by friends and co-stars alike. Cameron Mathison (Drew) responded, “Love you brother👊🏼.” Laura Wright, who has played Michael’s mother Carly since 2005 replied, “🥰🥰🥰 Still mad !! But I adore you !!!” Sofia Mattson (Sasha) lovingly reacted: “You will be so missed!!!! ❤️ Excited to see what’s next! 🤩”
His onscreen sister, Eden McCoy (Josslyn), met his announcement simply with, “I love you 🫵🏼⭐️.” Dominic Zamprogna, whose character and Michael’s brother Dante, has had to deal with the exit of his onscreen girlfriend Sam (Kelly Monaco) and with Duell’s surprise announcement, had a hilarious response, writing, “Who wrote this for you…Just kidding. I love you Cheddar❤️.”

Adults and Kids Alike Will Miss Him
Duell’s real-life girlfriend Luana Garcia celebrated her man and their child with the response: “Little D and I are always by your side, supporting you through every decision ❤️.” His on-screen wife, Katelyn MacMullen (Willow), shared her fondness for Duell, replying, “Love you, Chad!!!! ♥️♥️♥️.” The young actors on the show also chimed in, with Scarlett Fernandez (Charlotte) posting, “You will be missed! Thanks for always being one of the friendliest and funniest guys on set!”
The Instagram account for another one of Michael’s siblings, Scarlett Spears — whose alter ego is young Donna — posted, “🥹🥹🥹 Good luck with everything!!!!! Scarlett had so much fun with you, and getting to know you ❤️.” And the cutest reply came from his on-screen son Wiley’s portrayer, Viron Weaver, who responded, “Oh no. I’m so sad you are leaving! I will miss you and want you to know how much I appreciate all your kindness and patience. I learned so much from you and will miss all the fun goofing around we did. Thanks for being the best TV dad I could ask for. I hope you can come back one day.”
