Can General Hospital’s Carly and Brennan Survive the Test of Time?

On General Hospital, Carly and Brennan finally crossed that first romance threshold and kissed. From the moment they met, there were sparks, and it seems Carly and Brennan are destined for love. However, several people, including Jason and Felicia, have warned her to stay away from Brennan. They told her that nothing good could come of their relationship. Even worse, her friends are concerned that the spy has an agenda where she’s concerned. But Carly’s very stubborn and goes with her instincts as the mood strikes her.

She Sure Loves Her Bad Boys

Does anyone remember Franco? The reformed serial killer that all of Port Charles loathed? Carly (Laura Wright) ended up getting so deeply involved with him that they almost got married, despite the fact that everyone warned her he was bad for her. In the end, it was Carly who caused Franco to break things off when she cheated on him with Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Carly’s track record with men is not a very good one. Some of her past beaus include alcoholic AJ, Drug Lord Lorenzo Alcazar (Ted King), mobster Johnny Zacchara, and corporate raider Jax (Ingo Rademacher). While her relationship with Jax was probably the most healthy one she’s had, she always seems to prefer the bad boys, and Brennan (Charles Mesure) falls right in that category.

Does He Have an Agenda?

Even Anna (Finola Hughes) has warned that Brennan is always up to no good. But in a recent episode, Brennan opened up to her about a friend who died on a past mission, and his emotion was real. He looked very vulnerable as he shared his innermost thoughts, and Carly ate it up. Could he have been playing her, or were his feelings real?

It could be argued that because he’s a spy who’s been trained in the art of lying and keeping secrets, their relationship might not be able to withstand that. But Carly was able to acknowledge that during her many times over with ex-Sonny, she couldn’t always reveal details of his business for her safety. So she should be able to do the same for Brennan unless it turns out that he’s working with the villainous Sidwell (Carlo Rota), who brazenly struts around Port Charles now. Only then will they have a chance at happiness.
