There’s a new Jordan Ashford heading home to Port Charles, and Tanisha Harper is playing the pivotal General Hospital role.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Harper has had an interesting career that’s spanned modeling, acting, and writing. Her credits include appearances on the series Dollface, Hacks, and Dear White People. She was also in the romantic comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

1. Harper was discovered at a shopping mall in Phoenix, Arizona, when she was 15. It kicked off her modeling career with the prestigious Ford Model Agency. Over the years, she’s appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan and 944 other magazines.
2. She was a contestant on the sixth season of Project Runway, which aired in 2009. Harper had a successful run on the show, finishing in second place behind winner Irina Shabayeva’s model Kalyn Hemphill.

3. Harper’s a lot more than just a pretty face. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Arts and Marketing from the University of Arizona. Armed with that knowledge and her experience in the fashion industry, she broke into the entertainment world. She was brought on to host, write, and co-produce fashion, news, and entertainment content for clients like Verizon and AOL.
4. She made her acting debut on The Bold and the Beautiful back in 2005, playing a character that was second nature to her. Tanisha Harper was cast as a Spectra fashion model. Years later, in 2010, she returned to the soap as a Jackie M. model.
5. Among her most treasured possessions, Harper cites a necklace with her Japanese middle name, Mariko. It was a present given to her by her parents 20 years ago.
6. Harper describes herself as a “professional globetrotter” on her Instagram page, and she isn’t kidding. A scroll through her posts takes you everywhere from France to Portugal and Lebanon and everywhere in between.
7. Tanisha Harper has appeared on both The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Tyra Banks Show and was once interviewed by Katie Couric on the Today show.
