New Boy In Town: Who Should Cameron Mathison Play On General Hospital?

News that All My Children alum Cameron Mathison was on his way to General Hospital made fans excited over speculation of who he might play.

On AMC, he was Ryan Lavery – a relative of Port Charles’ Duke Lavery, perhaps? Anna (Finola Hughes) mentioned it during her Pine Valley stint, but nothing much came of it. Who do almost 4,000 voters think Mathison should be?

Never Before Seen

A majority 53% of the audience wants him to be a new face playing a new man. Every character currently on the canvas is lugging baggage – not to mention blood relations to almost every other character. We need new blood who can cut a wide swath through all the men and women looking for love. Let’s leave all of his options open!

A New Drew

Then again, 28% of you went the opposite way and suggested Mathison be the new Drew (last played by Billy Miller). Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Jason (Steve Burton) are broken up. And she doesn’t do well on her own. (Plus, Scout needs her daddy; and Danny needs the stepfather/uncle who cared more about him than his own father.)

Host With the Most

A much smaller 10% believe Mathison is too well known as a talk show personality to effectively take on another soap character. He should play himself, come in to host The Nurses Ball – and then go again. Port Charles is full, thanks. Besides, Anna would be too confused by the Lavery resemblance.

Oh, Brother

And a slightly tinier number, 9%, are suggesting he be Steven Lars, Liz (Rebecca Herbst) – and Franco’s (Roger Howarth) long-unseen half-brother. His parents are Franco’s mom Heather (Robin Mattson), and Liz’s dad, Jeff Webber.

So, really, he could be good, he could be bad, he could be crazy, he could be MacGyver… anything is possible, and Mathison seems up for the challenge. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
