Move Over Jason. Why General Hospital’s Carly Would Be a Kick-Ass Mob Boss

Sure, Jason seems like the natural choice to take over the Corinthos crime family, now that Sonny’s been presumed dead on General Hospital. But there’s another outside-the-box candidate for the job – Sonny’s wife, Carly, and she’d be a kick-ass mob boss.

A Match for the General Hospital Big Boys

Since joining the daytime medium, Laura Wright has proven she can go head-to-head with the big boys, and so has her alter ego. She’s a powerhouse actress who breathes fire and fury into Carly and can command any scene.

Carly had no fear during her first face-to-face with drug lord Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), telling him he was persona non grata at the Metro Court. She stood up to him like the boss lady she is. Months later, she was in full-on beast mode, when she turned up at the docks surrounded by henchmen. Having been alerted that Jason was in danger, she stormed onto the scene with bold bravado. She was fierce and determined… a mighty force to be reckoned with.

A Reason to Go On

Although Jason (Steve Burton) has tried to keep her out of the business, Carly has only grown more intent to be a part of it. And, for the sake of her sanity, it might be just what she needs at the moment. Being at the helm in taking down Cyrus and bringing him to justice, might be the only thing to help her heal as she tries to get through losing Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Girl Power

It’s also been a while since GH has featured a powerful female in the mob world. Think back to Faith Roscoe (Cynthia Preston), Olivia Jerome (Tonja Walker), and her murderous sister, Ava (Maura West), who’s turned over a new leaf in recent years.

Carly proved she has what it takes to join those formidable ranks when she kidnapped Cyrus’ mother for leverage. The tactic, while strongly disapproved by Jason, immediately made the crime lord a vulnerable mess.

Who knows, it could end up being the move that makes Cyrus stumble, make a key mistake, and ultimately lead to his demise. If that turns out to be the case, a large part of the credit for ridding Port Charles of the despicable thug will go to Carly. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
