And she did. She wasn’t just a Carly 2.0. She was actually the daughter of Carly’s (Laura Wright) adoptive father, Frank Benson. Frank left Carly’s long-suffering (what else could you be with Carly for a daughter?) adoptive mother, Virgina, when Carly was a baby.

Carly didn’t grow up with him, and they weren’t biologically related, so why Nelle’s kidney was such a good fit for Joss and why Nelle held such a grudge against her “sibling” is… unclear.
