An earthquake ripped through Port Charles this week, decimating Charles Street, injuring our favorite characters, but thankfully killing none. Did this General Hospital (GH) event live up to the hype?
That’s exactly what Soap Hub asked and you delivered with about 9,000 votes. Did you expect more excitement or was it what you hoped for?
A 10.0 On The Richter Scale
Ok, so nobody died, say 67% of you. It was still a wild ride and we didn’t want anybody to die. We just sat through Nathan’s tear-jerking funeral. Who needs more right now? And to that Soap Hub says: “Excellent point.”
You like the way the disaster moved stories along, with some stories even reaching new arcs. Jason (Steve Burton) saved Franco (Roger Howarth), which nobody ever thought would happen, much less Franco, while Franco then saved Drew (Billy Miller), who he thought he tried to kill as a little boy.
And then, miracle of miracles, Sam (Kelly Monaco) admitted she still loves Jason.
In fact, through much of the drama, Drew was more concerned with Oscar and didn’t even ask for Sam until he was brought into the hospital.
The earthquake also served as a way to have Nelle (Chloe Lanier) move into the Q mansion since her entire apartment building was destroyed, and that’s certainly going to make things interesting for Michael (Chad Duell).

Then, there are the 33% of you who thought the entire thing was pretty silly. Watching Ned (Wally Kurth) take charge was somewhat awkward because all you could think about was Eddie Maine and not a leader.
And again, you knew nobody was going to actually perish and in fact, the only character to even come remotely close to death was Oscar (Garren Stitt). Everyone else had hardly an injury at all.
But at least, stories can move along now, Port Charles can clean up, and we can figure out what was beneath the surface. Or at least Curtis can…
