It looks like an amnesiac Sonny has two brand-new friends on General Hospital. One is Phyllis Caulfield, the nurse who gave away baby Nelle and likes to take in strays in need. The other is her husband, Lenny, a bartender and bar owner with a gruff exterior and Soap Hub is here to tell you all about Rif Hutton, the actor who plays him.
Rif Hutton As Lenny
Actor Rif Hutton is best known for his work on the primetime series, Star Trek: Generations, but he’s been making the Hollywood rounds for decades, with numerous credits to his name. You may also recognize him from such 1980s and 90s shows like Doogie Howser, MD where he had a recurring role, as well as The Jeffersons, Night Court, Married…With Children, Murphy Brown, The Larry Sanders Show, Family Matters, and Cold Case.
Despite all that primetime, Hutton has a General Hospital connection. He was once married to Patricia Bethune, the Emmy-winning actress who played Nurse Mary Pat, the woman who tortured Carly and whose head ended up in a barrel of apples courtesy of Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom).
As Lenny the bartender and bar owner, he plays a man with a gruff exterior who started off suspicious of Sonny (Maurice Benard) — and remains suspicious of him even after he saved him from an armed robber. But who wouldn’t be suspicious of a lost man his wife brings into the bar who doesn’t know who he is, but can easily take out a gunman with his quick fist and demanding temper. There’s definitely something not right about this man and Lenny and Phyllis may soon find out what that something is.
Stay tuned to the next few weeks of GH as Sonny gets to know Lenny and Phyllis better. Perhaps he’ll even bring them back to Port Charles when he eventually gets his memory back and resumes his life. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
