Kristen Alderson and Eddie Alderson are two beloved former soap stars who we watched grow up before our eyes on One Life to Live, where she played Starr Manning and he played Matthew Buchanan. Now, the pair are mourning the loss of their beloved grandmother just days after she turned 90.
“Five days after taking this picture with my Mom-Mom (my dad’s mom) at her big 90th Birthday party, she peacefully passed away. What a gift to have all of these years and memories with the most strong, independent, family oriented and loving grandmom,” Kristen Alderson, who also played Starr and Kiki Jerome on General Hospital, posted to Instagram on Wednesday night.
“I feel so grateful that we (14 of her immediate family) were able to stand around her hospital bed with her on Sunday night, and talk and laugh with her for what would be our last time. It was truly magical, and so was she. I know that you & Pop-Pop are together again & happier than ever! Love you forever and ever Mom-Mom!”
Eddie Alderson, who has spent the last few years battling cancer, also shared a tribute to his grandmother on Instagram:
“From celebrating your 90th birthday party just one week ago, to now having to say goodbye to you just doesn’t feel real. I will miss you and cherish the 25 years of memories I had with you for the rest of my life. I hope you and Pop-Pop are dancing on the beach somewhere up there.”
