In July, Billy Miller confirmed that he would be leaving General Hospital in a sweet note to fans that he had his manager tweet since he chooses to stay off social media.
The conventional wisdom at the time was that he left the soap on his own volition, which is what many believed during the months of rumors he’d be heading out of Port Charles.
On Monday evening, co-star and close friend Kelly Monaco (Sam) took to her own Twitter account to tell us how heartbroken she is by his exit, but also let us know there may be more to the story than anyone originally thought.
“I feel like I have to address this situation. #BillyMiller ‘s untimely departure from #gh. Honestly, I can not come up with the words to describe how I feel about this decision… a decision that may not be what our audience thinks to be true. I’m heartbroken… more to come.”
That more to come never came on Monday night, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more Monaco has to say, but just hasn’t found a way to say it yet.
Of course, her tweet sparked rumors that Miller might have been let go from GH rather than him deciding to leave on his own. Others speculated he would return to The Young and the Restless as Billy Abbott. (Where would that leave former GH and current YR star Jason Thompson?) None of that has been confirmed at this time.
Currently, the character of Drew has the best story he’s had in ages as his BFF Franco now has his memories — the memories that sat on a flash drive in Drew’s office for nearly a year.
As far-fetched as the story sounds, it’s given the performers fantastic and meaty material to perform and Miller, a multiple Emmy winner, is running with it.
Soap Hub will keep you informed if Monaco takes to Twitter again and offers the “more to come” she promised on Monday night. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
