General Hospital’s Willow is helping keep Drew trapped, trying to do the same to Jack, relying on Sidwell despite every warning sign, and trying to hold onto her kids and her future at the same time. Willow still thinks she can somehow make everything work. Her portrayer, Katelyn MacMullen, admits that confidence is rooted in something more complex than simple optimism.

Key Takeaways

  • Willow believes she can still fix the situation.
  • Katelyn MacMullen says Willow is thinking from a delusional place.
  • Willow wants to stop drugging Drew and Brennan.
  • Sidwell’s suggestion to kill Drew horrifies Willow.
  • She no longer trusts Sidwell but keeps moving forward anyway.

Willow Keeps Convincing Herself There Is a Way Out

MacMullen told Soap Opera Digest that Willow does not actually want to keep poisoning people forever. “At this point, Willow doesn’t want to keep drugging Brennan,” she said. “She doesn’t even want to drug Drew anymore.”

The problem is that Willow keeps treating this whole catastrophe like a temporary inconvenience she can sort out once she gets her ducks in a row. In Willow’s head, the plan still makes a strange sort of sense: If she can stop Drew (Cameron Mathison) from retaliating, then she can figure out what to do with Jack (Chris McKenna). If she does, then maybe nobody finds out what happened. If nobody finds out what happened, maybe her life somehow goes back to normal.

And that’s where the delusion comes in. Willow isn’t acting like somebody cornered by consequences. She’s acting like somebody who believes one more careful move will solve everything. The trouble is that every move she makes keeps digging the hole deeper.

Sidwell Is the Part of the Plan She Never Accounted For

The cracks began to show when Sidwell (Carlo Rota) suggested they stop worrying about Drew entirely and kill him. That was a bridge too far. “Killing him was never part of the plan,” MacMullen said.

The actress explained that Willow still cares about Scout (Cosette Abinante) and does not want Drew’s daughter growing up without her father. More importantly, she doesn’t want to destroy what remains of her own life. The problem is that Sidwell is no longer behaving like a useful ally.

That realization may finally be catching up with Willow. MacMullen said Sidwell feels like a threat now, and she understands she can’t count on him to rescue her. Yet she keeps pushing forward.

“I think she genuinely thinks this is all going to work out,” MacMullen admitted, before acknowledging that Willow’s thinking is “obviously coming from a delusional place.”
