Maxie’s happily ever after came tumbling down when her husband Nathan was shot and killed by his own father on General Hospital (GH).
It’s left Maxie (Kirsten Storms) a pregnant widow with a future of uncertainty ahead of her. While she has family, good friends and a promising career, her personal life is in for some major changes.
What moves should the soap make in Maxie’s life moving forward? Here are a few suggestions for her immediate future.
Bring Back Spinelli
With Maxie’s world shattered, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) should move back to Port Charles full time with their daughter, Georgie, and his significant other, Ellie. Spinelli should realize how much Maxie needs Georgie at the moment.
The little girl would add some joy to her mourning mother’s life.
Plus, as Maxie’s ex and longtime friend, Spinelli could offer her a special kind of support that no one else can. Of course, their resumed closeness might pose a threat to Spinelli’s relationship with Ellie, but that would only make things more interesting.
Bye-Bye BFF
While Maxie initially forgave Lulu for writing the piece that lured Nathan’s (Ryan Paevey) diabolical dad Faison (Anders Hove) out of hiding, it’s going to be impossible for her to forgive what transpired because of it – her husband’s death.
The reality is Lulu set the whole thing in motion, and Maxie should never be able to look at her in the same way again. The two besties need to break ties. It’s the only move that makes sense. In the interim, Amy (Risa Dorkin), who truly loved and cared about Nathan, can help fill Maxie’s friend void. (Or maybe, she can make Sam her BFF again.)
Career Woman
It’s going to take Maxie time to move on and get over Nathan, and a new man isn’t the answer. Instead, the mom-to-be should throw herself into her career at Crimson. Working side-by-side with Nathan’s sister Nina (Michelle Stafford) is the absolute perfect situation for both women.
They share a common grief and can help bolster one another through this harrowing time. In the process, they can take the magazine to new heights.
Heading Home
Maxie should definitely consider moving back home with Felicia (Kristina Wagner) and Mac (John J. York). She’s pregnant, and she absolutely shouldn’t be living alone.
Her doting parents would provide her with lots of love and stability, and they could help her care for her baby, after he or she is born. It’s the perfect solution Maxie, and, as an added bonus, it would give fan favorites Wagner and York more screen time.
