On General Hospital, Wiley’s first birthday party reminded fans that it’s been a year since this baby switch story kicked off. (For some it feels shorter — kids grow up so fast! — while for others, much, much longer).
It’s been a year since Nelle (Chloe Lanier) gave birth by the side of the road — with Liesl’s (Kathleen Gatti) help — then gave her baby to Brad (Parry Shen) to replace the one he and Lucas (Ryan Carnes) adopted, who suffered from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Nelle told Michael (Chad Duell) their son, Jonah, had died and she was then carted off to Pentonville for various crimes.
Meanwhile, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) continues to think the tot she gave up for adoption is living happily with his two daddies, and she is determined to keep biological father, Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin), as far away as possible. All good, soapy stuff. But has it gone on too long? What over 11,000 fans had to say:
Yes, 94% of you groan. A whole year of Willow sobbing, Julian (William deVry) hedging, and Brad looking guilty every time Michael waxes poetic about his “godson,” is about one year too many.
Either blow this secret wide open or move on and give everyone something new to play. Fact is, if they laid off a little, the story will only be more powerful if the switch-a-roo comes to light once Wiley is old enough to understand. When he is, say, 10 years old or so. So… next fall?
Give Us More
Only 6% of the audience wants to see the story continue. Soaps are all about dragging things out, dragging things out, and then dragging them out some more. You are loving this old school torture, instead of the stories that wrap up in weeks.
Let’s wait until Wiley is in college. So…2022? General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
