Grant Show is a television and film actor who is best known for playing Jake Hanson on Melrose Place. He currently stars as Blake Carrington on the primetime soap reboot, Dynasty, but he also started on a daytime soap.
The handsome actor has also appeared in series such as Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Big Love, and Devious Maids. From where he was born and raised to the role he gave up to Brad Pitt, here are five fast facts.
He was born on February 27 in Detroit, Michigan, but he and his sister, Kelly, were raised in Milpitas, California. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in theater arts. He took a year’s sabbatical after his first soap job (see below) to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
Soap Beginnings
Show’s first role was as Rick Hyde on the now-defunct ABC soap, Ryan’s Hope. He got the part while he was still in college and stayed on the show for three years. During his last year, he received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Young Actor in a Daytime Drama Series, losing out to then-All My Children star Michael E. Knight (now Martin Grey on General Hospital).
Three Shows, One Character
He has actually played the same character, Jake Hanson, on three different television shows. He first played him on Beverly Hills, 90210, which then lead to a spinoff series, Melrose Place. Show was on that series for five years, and during that period he also played Jake on an episode of Models, Inc.
The actor was actually offered the role of J.D. in the 1991 film, Thelma & Louise, a part that eventually went to a very young Brad Pitt, launching his film career. Show was forced to turn it down due to his work on another project. He has since revealed how much he regrets not taking the part and how he wishes he would’ve walked out of his contract in order to do the film.
Getting Personal With Grant Show
Show previously dated his Ryan’s Hope co-star Yasmine Bleeth while they were on the soap together. He married model and actress Pollyanna McIntosh in 2004, but they divorced in 2011. He next married actress Katherine LaNasa on August 18, 2012, and they have one daughter together, Eloise, who was born on March 24, 2014.
