General Hospital Maurice Benard and Paula
It’s a special day for Paula, wife of General Hospital star Maurice Benard, as the talent agent and producer is celebrating her birthday. Benard gushed about the love of his life in a special tribute to her.
Benard made sure to send his favorite lady a special greeting on social media, and many fans followed with birthday posts of their own. “This picture really shows our relationship when we started going out,” the actor wrote on Instagram, adding an adorable photo of the couple from their early days together. “I used to embarrass Paula and then I would kiss her on the forehead.”
The couple was married in 1990, after eight years of dating. And they’ve been together and in love ever since. “Over 30 years later we are still going strong, and I owe most of that to her, I can’t believe what this woman can do and never stop,” Benard said. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY (Always-and-forever) PAULA.”
Maurice Benard has not been shy about beaming about his beloved wife in the past, especially all that she’s had to endure with his well-publicized mental health issues. The actor, who hosts the YouTube series State of Mind that details such issues, has often thanked his wife for putting up with him and everything she’s done to help him through it all.
In a video he posted to Instagram in the past, Paula talked about what it meant to her to hear her hubby on the audio version of his book, and she spoke of how proud she was of him to express his challenges in this way. Their mutual love and admiration for each other have been key for their lasting all these years.
On-screen, Benard is transitioning back to playing mob kingpin Sonny Corinthos, after the character got his memory back recently and happily revealed to his family that he was alive and well. But with so much time away and living life as nice-guy Mike who was finding love with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), will his alter ego keep him from being the man he was? Stay tuned.
