General Hospital mother and daughter Laura Wright and Eden McCoy recently took time out of their busy schedules to chat with the show’s fans in a Fantasy Events gathering via Zoom. The two addressed many issues related to the show including Wright answering a fan’s inquiry about Jason and Carly.
Laura Wright Talks Jason And Carly’s Future
Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly (Laura Wright) had the shortest marriage in soap opera history when the bride’s “late” husband Sonny (Maurice Benard) showed up on the duo’s wedding night. One fan during the Fantasy Event gathering asked if there’s the possibility that Jason and Carly could ever get back together after having come thisclose to living happily ever after.
“You can always cross your fingers — and your toes,” Wright responded. “Yes, of course you can.” Whether or not Jason and Carly are ever romantic, their relationship is rock solid. “[They have] a built-in relationship that’s always going to be there and I’m sure [on some level] will always be teased.”
GH’s Carly And Jason Are BFFs
Wright adds that Jason and Carly are “best friends and they love each other…we’ll see what happens.” The actress shared that the cast shot a lot of scenes over a short period of time as the current storyline approached its climax. “We had to get those days in,” she recalls, adding, “We had so much fun. We were jumping out of wedding attire and putting on [other wardrobes].”
The actress gives major kudos to co-star and Carly’s BFF Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). “Steve was amazing,” Wright says. “In my mind, Jason finally came over and was going to commit to one person. It was probably the person he should have committed to anyway [Laughs] because he always puts her first!”
Understandable Reaction
Wright says she understands why segments of the audience were against Jason and Carly moving forward together but hastens to point out that the audience had information that Jason and Carly did not. “They all knew Sonny was alive — Carly and Jason didn’t,” Wright notes. “I understand the ‘No, no, no…this can’t happen because of Sonny,’ [but] Jason and Carly believed that they had to figure out a way to move through this without [Sonny].”
Wright points out that Jason and Carly connecting and deciding to get married was a case of art imitating life. “People have married their dead [mate’s] best friend,” she notes. “It happens.” To learn more about future GH Fantasy Events that you can attend featuring stars including Laura Wright, Eden McCoy, and other GH faves, click here.
