Daytime vet Cameron Mathison recently returned to our TV screens as Drew Cain on General Hospital, and the actor shared some great news with fans about life away from work.
Cameron Mathison Shares A Positive Update
Mathison (ex-Ryan, All My Children), who was diagnosed with cancer back in 2019, and shared his journey with fans along the way as he went into remission, had another positive update, which he posted on Instagram.
“My 2 year cancer check up came back totally clear,” he noted. “Thank you for all of the well wishes… I can’t tell you how much it means.” His doctor even told him that his kidney numbers were the best they’ve ever been, so whatever he’s been doing is working.
The actor was visiting his mother in Florida when he learned the good news. Sadly, his mom is dealing with brain cancer herself, and Mathison paid tribute to her in his post, sharing a loving image of the two of them together during his recovery.
“I love this photo of my mom supporting me through my cancer journey back in 2019,” he wrote. “Four months later she would be diagnosed with Brain Cancer and she is still fighting hard.”
He added that he was glad he was with her when he got his good news, and believes his mom will best her cancer as well! “Now it’s your turn mom to beat the odds,” Mathison wrote. “I love you so much and I’m here for you, like you were for me.”
The Hallmark Channel star is having a blast being back in the soap world as Drew is making himself integral to the stories in Port Charles. Drew is fighting to return home to his daughter after being held captive in Greece for two years, courtesy of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). Once he arrives back, expect plenty of fireworks.
