The GH recap for Monday, January 9, 2023, features Willow Tait thinking it might be smooth sailing only to have the rug pulled out from under her.
GH Recap Highlights
In this episode, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) discussed bone marrow surgery with Terry Randolph (Cassandra James), while Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) came across a piece of paper that explains everything. Also, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) wasn’t so sure Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) was The Hook, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was stunned by Nikolas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) news, and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) almost told Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) the truth. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.
As Willow and Michael anxiously awaited their appointment with Terry, Willow did her best to convince Michael to put bygones aside and forgive his father. After all, family is family, but Michael didn’t want to hear it. Soon, Terry broke the bad news that the chemo wasn’t working and Willow’s condition was getting worse, which is why this bone marrow match was so important. Terry even told Willow they could deliver the baby before going through with the surgery.

Once again, Willow didn’t think of her own life and was hesitant about having the baby a month ahead of schedule. However, that all became moot when Terry told her and Michael they were back to square one because the donor’s doctor refused to clear them for the transplant.
Meanwhile, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) interrupted Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) going through Britt’s stuff to tell her that she was going after Wyndemere in the divorce and leaving her without a roomie. The two women then discussed how they never thought they’d be best friends. When Sonny walked in, Nina and Ava left the room for a bit, and Sonny started idly looking at Britt’s box of stuff. He seemed to come across the paperwork about Willow’s condition and was ready to break the news to Nina.
General Hospital Recap: Nikolas’ Problems Get Worse
Now that the truth is out there about Esme and her baby, Nikolas figured he would spread the news even further and told a stunned Alexis he slept with his son’s girlfriend and impregnated her. She was horrified enough by the news and absolutely refused to help him fight for custody of the baby because she doesn’t believe in children being taken from their mothers.

Alexis also warned Nikolas he should focus on the son he already has instead of trying to make up for everything that happened with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) with a brand-new baby.
At Wyndemere, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) was shocked that Spencer was moving in with Sonny and that he saw Demetrius go into the supposedly-closed north tower. Victor then did some investigating himself and confronted Nikolas with a Christmas tree ornament.
GH Recap: Finn Has A Big Mouth
At the hospital, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) tried to make sure the cops couldn’t question Esme, but Hamilton Finn gave the all-clear. Dante and Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) showed her pics of Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Cameron Webber (William Lipton), and Spencer, but she didn’t recognize any of them. Martin later told her that her best bet was figuring out where she has been the last few months to give her an alibi. It’s a good thing Dante doesn’t think she is a serial killer.
At the nurses’ station, Elizabeth was about to tell Finn the truth about Esme but was relieved when Dante and Jordan interrupted them. She was not very relieved when Finn suggested they check Spoon Island to see if they can find any evidence that Esme had been hiding out there.
