Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH)? Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week or in the not too far off future?

General Hospital C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The week of March 21, 2022

James Patrick Stuart took to Twitter to report that he’s returned to the GH set and is filming scenes as Valentin Cassadine. The actor had been off working on the new Disney series, The Villains of Valley View. Look for Valentin to surface in a few weeks.

David Lautman is back as Smoltz, The Intruder reporter delving into the sex tape scandal involving Cameron Webber (William Lipton) and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). He last appeared in February, when he gave Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) a story tip.

Sydney Mikayla made her final appearance as Trina Robinson, Jossyln’s (Eden McCoy) best friend, on March 17. The actress, who took over the role of Trina in 2019, chose to exit the soap to pursue her college studies at UCLA. The role has already been recast with daytime newcomer Tabyana Ali, who will begin airing later this month.

Sewell Whitney wrapped up his stint as the records’ keeper who assisted Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Felicia Jones (Kristina Wagner) in Austria. Also, Paul Ganus met his demise as Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) cohort in crime, Kurt. The character committed suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) many decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please its viewers.

Current Soap Operas

It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
