General Hospital C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day-player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The week of September 5, 2022

Chloe Lanier is reprising her role as villainess Nelle Benson, Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos’s (Viron Weaver) biological mother and Nina Reeves’s (Cynthia Watros) late daughter. It’s a short-term visit that begins this week.

Lanier, who won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in 2018, portrayed Nelle from 2016 to 2018 and 2019 to 2020. She was killed off the soap in May of 2020, when the character fell to her death, after a heated confrontation with Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright).

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and was created by the husband and wife team of Frank and Doris Hursley, taking place at a hospital but in an unnamed city. In fact, the setting wasn’t named as Port Charles until the 1970s. General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine, to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.
