A big star is departing General Hospital, however, there’s a happy return set to happen too. Here’s the latest comings and goings casting news at the ABC soap. Find out which popular star from yesteryear is heading back to the show in the near future, which longtime actress is leaving the daytime drama, and if any newcomers are joining GH in contract, recurring, or day-player roles.

The Week of July 14, 2025

Kirsten Storms’ temporary exit as Maxie Jones – the actress was replaced by Nicole Paggi in the show’s July 3 episode due to a scheduling conflict – is going to be more permanent. The actress took to Instagram to explain that she’s taking an extended break from the soap because she’s moving to Tennessee with her daughter, Harper. Storms, however, will be back on screen the week of August 18. She explained that she had already filmed her final scenes of the year in June and that she hoped to be back on the GH set in November or December.

On the heels of Storms’ exit comes some welcome return news. Kathleen Gati is heading back to the show as Dr. Liesl Obrecht. Rumors of Gati resurfacing started when it was announced that Kelly Thiebaud, who played her late daughter, Britt Westbourne, would be rejoining the soap. Gati, who began playing Liesl in 2012, made her last appearance in December 2023.

Vernee Watson pops back in as Stella Henry. She’ll share scenes with her onscreen nephew, Donnell Turner’s Curtis, on Wednesday, July 16.

As the truth about his character’s birth continues to take center stage, Finn Carr gets more screen time as Rocco Falconeri. Look for Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) son to air again this week.
