Ryan Carnes, the former Dr. Lucas Jones on General Hospital, hasn’t been on the show since the role was recast last November, though the good doctor eventually disappeared from Port Charles soon after. The actor of course remains a fan favorite and recently wanted to reveal some writing he had done.

Ryan Carnes Shares An Important Message

The actor seems to be in a good place these days, sharing some photos on Instagram and writing about his hope that love conquers hate in today’s world.

“I find that nature helps me foster a deep awareness of what is true—Truth with a capital T,” he wrote next to some photos of him enjoying the outdoors. “I find that it allows me to tune the dial to a place of high fidelity, rather than to radio KFUK.”

He waxes poetic about how he’s seeing people who feel challenged about this truth, and asserts he knows it’s not easy. “It’s a minefield out there right now,” Carnes shared. “I don’t know much, but of a few things I’m certain, so I’m going to share something I wrote the other day that will speak to that certainty…”

A poem-esque writing followed that started with the stanzas:

“Can you see it yet?
Can you see they want us divided?
Can you see that they want us to fear each other… Condemn each other… Even hate each other? For reasons that defy logic and reason.”

Carnes goes on to express how people are driven to support specific people or different ideas, and this often is related to their own needs. “One need look no further than so-called political races to witness such an MO,” he wrote. “Can you see that they want us confused, overwhelmed, desperate, despondent, and weakened so that we may be more easily manipulated and fooled into turning against one another?”

The actor wants people not to seek out differences but champion the similarities between people and search for the “genuine love amongst us all” and not focus on the hate and derision.

“There is far more power—power to usher in the shifts that are required for a much more beautiful, harmonious, and equal world—in Unity than there ever will be in division,” Carnes said. “And to be clear, when I say “they” — I am referencing the material, mental, emotional, and spiritual profiteers who stand to gain from dividing Us. Those few are not of any certain race, ethnicity, creed, religion, political party or otherwise identifiable by any perceived superficial distinction.”

He leaves his fans with one final important reminder: “Light always triumphs over dark. Truth always wins out over illusion. Love always transcends fear,” he said. “Of these things I am certain.”
