General Hospital Poll Results: Is Friz In Need Of A New Storyline?

From mid to late 2019, General Hospital was all Elizabeth and all Franco all the time. Well, to be more precise, it was all Elizabeth fighting for the return of her husband whose memories and personality had been superseded by Drew Cain’s — thanks Shiloh!

General Hospital Polling

But by December, the story ended just as quickly and ridiculously as it had begun. Franco (Roger Howarth) was back, he was awfully sorry for having been sexually assaulted by an increasingly delusional Kim Nero (Tamara Braun) and there were no residual side effects from having his already-tumor-addled brain toyed with.

Since that time, we’ve seen Franco and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) have a meal at the Metro Court and offer enthusiastic praise to Peter (Wes Ramsey) while remaining totally unaware that he was nearly responsible for ending Franco’s life.

And after that…nothing, nada, zip. In fact, the only other time Elizabeth has been on our screens was when Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) tracked her down and revealed that the rumors about his death had been greatly exaggerated.

So how are the fans feeling about the couple’s lack of screen time and back-burner status and are they interested in seeing them engaged in anther storyline tout suite? Here’s what over 5,000 said:

Franco and Elizabeth: Play On

This was barely a contest. Over 82% of General Hospital fans said that you want to see Franco and Liz get a new storyline – anything will do, just as long as the pair are on your TV screens.

You also point out that the messy memory mapping storyline opened up a whole host of possible scenarios the soap could explore. Maybe Franco still retains some of Drew’s thoughts and feelings? Or perhaps the procedure unlocked some of his darker, murderous tendencies — we can’t blame that benign mass for everything you know.

A Change Is As Good As A Rest

There’s a smaller majority out there — 17% in total — who are absolutely fine with the distinct lack of Baldwin-Webber presence. You’re well aware there’s no way the show is actually abandoning the couple or sending them to Story Siberia.

You know that it’s merely a case of the two having had their time in the sun and the writers now taking the opportunity to spread the wealth around the overly large canvas and give some other characters a chance to shine. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
