General Hospital’s Sam Dilemma: Is She Doomed Without Jason?

She called it quits with longtime love Jason, who’s now hot and heavy with Britt. It’s left General Hospital’s Sam with precious little to do besides mothering her two kids and, occasionally, butting heads with Dante. It’s left the soap with a major Sam dilemma. Is the character doomed without Jason?

General Hospital — Going Nowhere

While the show’s been trying to create sparks between Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), it’s just not working. The pair are much better suited as friends. Plus, it’s almost incestuous to think of Dante hooking up with Jason’s (Steve Burton) ex, considering he’s like a brother to Sonny (Maurice Benard).

And Dante and Lulu fans definitely don’t want to see Dante straying with Sam. They’re holding out hope for Emme Rylan to return to the soap and play out the reunion they’ve been anticipating for years.

A Few Possibilities

The soap’s writers could try to hook Sam up with someone else on the canvas. Now that Roger Howarth is back in a brand new role as Austin, that could be a possibility. Or the show could bring Sam’s ex-lover Drew back from the dead and rekindle their relationship, especially if she wants someone who doesn’t live his life in a violent world.

One obvious choice would be to pair Sam with Finn (Michael Easton), now that he’s parted ways with Anna. Monaco and Easton have always had fiery chemistry that dates back to their pairing as Livvie and Caleb on Port Charles. Reviving it seems like a no-brainer.

Three’s Company

Of course, the best twist for “Jasam” fans would be diving into a triangle between Jason, Sam, and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). Nothing makes a woman more interested in an ex than seeing him move on with someone new.

It could motivate Sam to reexamine her feelings for Jason and take action to win him back. Having two strong-willed women like Sam and Britt compete for Jason would definitely make for an enthralling and tantalizing story. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
