It’s been nearly two years since Dominic Zamprogna has been a regular fixture on General Hospital as Dante Falconeri. Dante’s absence was first explained by a WSB mission that took him to Turkey, but a return engagement last year revealed PTSD from that experience.
Dominic Zamprogna: Ready For More Port Charles
Dante deemed that he was a danger to his family and once again left Port Charles to seek treatment in a WSB facility, divorcing Lulu along the way and devastating his parents, Olivia and Sonny. But now Zamprogna tells Soaps In Depth he is ready to return to GH and PC whenever the show will have him.
“Frank [Valentini, Executive Producer] knows I’m ready to come home,” Zamprogna said in the May 4, 2020 issue of Soaps In Depth. “And I’d be totally open to a contract. There’s so much potential with the character and the story right now. With everything they’ve done since Dante’s been gone, there are so many options and they’d all be fun to play.”
Zamprogna admits he’s been feeling that pull back to the soap he called home for a decade since last fall. “I called Maurice [Benard, Sonny] a couple of weeks ago and honestly almost cried. I love that place, I love those people, and I love that job.”
Of course, things are quite different now at home for Dante. Lulu (Emme Rylan) finally gave up on the husband who left her and filed for divorce and has entered into a fresh, new romance with Dustin (Mark Lawson), a high school teacher with a bevy of talents, including music and rescuing damsels in distress.
How would she feel about Dante returning and wanting to resume his old life? And what if he doesn’t want to resume his old life? As Zamprogna said, there are so many different ways to play this so we’ll have to stay tuned and see what happens. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
