Millions of Americans are feeling anxious as they watch the news about the spread of the coronavirus and soap stars are not immune. General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny) wants to do his part to help people deal with that stress and has tips to offer.

Maurice Benard Reveals His Strategy

The talented actor and writer — he has a book coming out as you may have heard called Nothing General About It — isn’t immune to feeling the same anxiety as rest of us. After all, he recorded his tips after waking up in the middle of the night.

“Mental illness-bipolar, Depression, anxiety, etc. When you’re in it seems like you’ll never get out. But you can make the impossible possible @mentalhealthamerica @bpmagforbipolar @mbstateofmind” he wrote in the caption alongside a video in which he shares these strategies.

He starts off by telling everyone that it’s three in the morning — at least at the time he recorded this.

“I have a little bit of anxiety and I just wanted to distract myself,” he shared as he revealed he’s trying a lot of different things to keep his mind off the frenzy that has built up. Distracting himself definitely seems to be key for the actor and by the time he finishes his second video, you can see he seems more relaxed. Watch both videos in his post below.

Port Charles Life

Meanwhile, Benard’s GH character has his hands full with his new foe — Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober). He and Jason (Steve Burton) are trying to figure out how to stop a man who seems to be able to manage an entire mobster network while locked up in Pentonville.

Family is always the most important thing for Sonny and this guy seems determined to do them all harm. Will Sonny and the rest of Port Charles band together (you hear that Jordan?!) to take down someone who has seemingly been taken down already? How will they do this? Stay tuned. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
