A trio of former power players at General Hospital have been conspicuously missing from front burner action for a long while, and it’s time for a change.
General Hospital Dreams
When the soap resumes production after the coronavirus shutdown, they need to be front and center, again. They need to be back in the spotlight. They need to be at the wheel driving storyline, after way too long on the sidelines.
Emme Rylan
Lulu is at crossroads in her life. Her marriage to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) abruptly ended in divorce, leading to a new romance with Dustin (Mark Lawson). Her son Rocco loves the guy and even opted to take him to a father/son school event, nearly sending Dante’s mother Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) over the edge.
With Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) still in the mix as Dustin’s friendly ex and rumblings of Zamprogna’s return as Dante, all the makings are there for a powerful plot turn. The talented Rylan deserves to be a GH lead again, driving story and at the heart of an emotional life and relationship dilemma. She’s been on the sidelines for far too long.
Tristan Rogers
Yep, the GH vet has earned some front burner time, and when the soap shut down production, he seemed primed for it. First, Robert was trying to come to terms with Holly’s death; then realizing it might not be true.
Plus, remember he had made a pact with the imprisoned Dr. Obrecht, before she was shipped out of town, to prove she’d been framed. And it all ties in with Peter (Wes Ramsey), who Robert’s long believed to be a lying duplicitous snake. (He’s right.)
Tristan Rogers needs to get back into WSB mode when the soap returns. Then he can find out what really happened to Holly, prove Dr. O’s innocence, and finally expose and bring down Peter. Yes, it’s a pretty potent assignment, and he’s sure to get plenty of push back from Peter, but if anyone can outsmart the devious son of Faison, it’s super sleuth Robert.
Kelly Monaco
Sam’s been a shell of her old self, ever since she brought down Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) and ended up ruining her life. After shooting the creepy cult leader dead, just as he was about to attack Jason (Steve Burton), Sam ended up convicted of manslaughter and sent to prison. Although quickly released, she was informed by her aggressive parole officer that she could have no contact with the man she loved, Jason, a known criminal.
Sure, she and Jason tried to fight back, knowing Peter was behind much of Sam’s plight and offered to bring the PCPD evidence that linked him to Shiloh. But Peter’s outsmarted them every turn, leaving Sam a helpless victim, after years of being a kick-ass chick.
When GH returns, Kelly Monaco’s old Sam needs to make a comeback, too. The character needs to take charge, reclaim her life, and emerge as the powerful heroine she used to be. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
