This week on General Hospital started off with so much promise, but by the end of this week, the excitement and anticipation sadly petered out.
Early In the Week
The blackout at General Hospital threw things into turmoil and Liz (Rebecca Herbst) down the stairs. Well, the blackout didn’t, but it provided a nice cover for someone (more than likely the DA needing to cover his murderous tracks) to push and someone else (Hayden) to pay for it.
Ducks were lined up in a row, namely Franco (Roger Howarth), as he learned the big secret about Hayden (Rebecca Budig) being Jeff Webber’s daughter. Hayden slapping Liz in front of witnesses, and of course, the serial killer being on the loose acted as the next two ducks. Thanks to Ava (Maura West), the audience learned the killer’s identity, and she got a new chew toy to play with all in one shot. But, by the end of the week, her blackmail became old hat, Liz seemingly didn’t have any lasting issues (but that could change) from her fall, and Hayden is in lockup where she can’t cause any more mischief.
Coming to a Head
We got some nice moments in other stories when Tracy (Jane Elliott) counseled Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), who seems to be losing it. Are we really supposed to believe that she’s going to blow the trial against her murderous soon-to-be ex-husband? Not our Alexis! Ava blew Nina’s (Michelle Stafford) chance to be a mom but having Nina call her a hypocrite and almost tear her head off was at least something to enjoy. And let’s not forget the kiss between Hayden and Finn (Michael Easton) – which is hopefully only a hint of things to come for these two! Team Fayden!
Hit the Snooze
So, what was everything building to for Friday’s big episode before the Labor Day repeat/break? Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Jason (Billy Miller) and their anti-climatic wedding at Sonny and Carly’s home–two people they have each slept with. Sure, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) are their best friends, but still… aren’t they all rich? Couldn’t they have gotten a more interesting location? It was awesome to see Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), but will he be wasted on just this or does he get to visit with Maxie? Here’s hoping that Tuesday’s show will be worth the wait.
