Our GH Take: Alexis Apologizes to Anna…and Other Friday Gems

Something rare happened today on “General Hospital” between twos strong women. We were treated to a mature and civil conversation. No histrionics, no wrestling in the mud or pie in the face–and it was glorious.

Then again, we’d expect nothing less of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn). Both are intelligent and classy. Today, they had a truly grown up conversation as we saw Alexis take responsibility for her past actions. Alexis admitted she knew Julian (William deVry) ordered the hit on Duke (Ian Buchanan), and she let it pass. She knew she owed Anna an apology for denying her justice for Duke’s death.

Hughes’ reaction made your heart hurt for her. It was gratifying to see Alexis finally own up to her mistakes. It’s hard to argue with Alexis that her actions led to her current situation. Her complacency with Julian helped to create the fine mess she now finds herself in. But rather than yell or scream at Alexis, Anna was gracious. She even tried to let her off the hook. After all, she knows better than most what it’s like to love a flawed and complicated man.

Now For Some Other Friday Gems…
BEST LINE: It was a lot of fun to see Franco (Roger Howarth) and Heather (Robin Mattson) have as much of a heart-to-heart mother/son chat as those two can muster. Best line – when Franco asked about Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) father, Jeff Webber. Heather answered, “He was real handy. Give him a spool of thread, and he could start a car.” It was a nice nod to his portrayer Richard Dean Anderson’s next role as “MacGyver”. And we all know MacGyver could do ANYTHING.

RUNNER UP: Finn (Michael Easton) needed his new buddy to inject his life-saving meds right into his arm. On the floor, he looked up and said to Hayden (Rebecca Budig), “You’re my only hope,” invoking thoughts of Princess Leia from “Star Wars”. The camera then panned up to Hayden, who was dressed in white. It also fit in quite nicely with GH’s habit of plugging “Star Wars” and anything owned by ABC/Disney.
