Acting is an art and the best of actors can make something out of nothing, even when that something is doing nothing. For General Hospital stars, laying still in a scene can be the hardest job of all.
The latest GH character to go into a coma and lie close to death is Lulu Falconeri. Thankfully, Lulu did not die in The Floating Rib explosion, but she could remain in a coma indefinitely. During Emme Rylan’s last scenes before Lulu was transported to a long-term care facility, Rylan had quite a job on her hands.
“Laying there emotionless while my amazing costars cried over my comatose body was one of the hardest acting challenges EVER! They don’t exactly have you practice that in acting school (Thank u to everyone that noticed),” Rylan tweeted this week.
Not only did she have to lie there emotionless and motionless, but she also had to wear an EEG cap on her head, as doctors monitored Lulu’s brain activity.
Rylan is not the only GH actor who has had a hard time with scenes like that. Max Gail, who had to lie still as Mike slowly died from Alzheimer’s earlier this year chimed in on Rylan’s post with: “I understand.”
Ryan Paevey, who has been off the GH canvas since 2018 but who had to remain still during Nathan’s time in the hospital and also for his emotional funeral that won the soap a Daytime Emmy, concurred. “I 100% agree and understand, ha ha,” he tweeted.
Soap Hub hopes to see no other GH characters comatose any time soon so we can keep the characters we love with us. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
