Former General Hospital Star Rick Springfield
He won our hearts in the early 1980s when he joined “General Hospital” as sexy doctor, Noah Drake.
He then continued to wow us when he released his mega-hit song, “Jessie’s Girl,” propelling this already successful singer into a new stratosphere. Now comes word from the “Supernatural’ panel at Comic-Con that he’ll to playing Lucifer himself when Rick Springfield stars in a multi-episode arc during the show’s 12th season.
Speak of the Devil
On the primetime show, various actors have had their hand at playing the devil because he takes on different forms. In the new season, Lucifer takes over the body of a down-and-out rock star who wants to make a comeback. Springfield joins fellow daytime alum Jensen Ackles (ex-Eric Brady, “Days of Our Lives”), who has starred on the cult hit for its entire run. The new season begins on Oct. 13.

Springfield has enjoyed a resurgence in his acting career of late. In 2015, he landed the opportunity of a lifetime, starring opposite Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep in the feature film “Ricki and the Flash.” He also had a multi-episode arc on the critically-acclaimed HBO series “True Detective” playing Dr. Irving Pitlor. That season, the stars included Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, and Colin Farrell.
Port Chuck Memories
Springfield has come a long way from romancing the likes of Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) and Tiffany Hill (Sharon Wyatt). His last appearance on “General Hospital” was back in 2013. Considering his son Patrick (last played by Jason Thompson, now Billy on Y&R) is no longer on the canvas, the chances of a return seem low. A good doctor is hard to find, so we imagine he’s always welcome. Would you like to see the elder Dr. Drake back in the GH halls?
