Yesterday was a very special day for General Hospital (GH) star Max Gail, who has quickly won a special place in fans’ hearts.
The actor was born on April 5, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, which means he turned 75! Gail is probably best known for his role as Detective Stan ‘Wojo’ Wojciehowicz on the long-running show Barney Miller.
However, he has won a whole new legion of fans for his tender portrayal of Mike, Sonny’s father who just learned he is suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Of course, Gail has appeared all over the place, including the feature film 42, as well as recent TV shows like Mad Men, Scorpion, Hawaii Five-O, Longmire, and NCIS. Believe it or not, GH wasn’t his first soap opera — that was Days of Our Lives as Merle back in 2007.
Gail also runs his own production company, Full Circle, which has produced documentaries on things like Agent Orange, Native Americans, and nuclear issues. He has a B.A. in Economics and a Masters in International Finance.
Before he had success as an actor, he taught school, played piano in bars, and was a construction worker and waiter. He has also written his own songs.
Soap Hub hopes Max Gail had the happiest of birthdays and wish him a fantastic year ahead.
