Several soap stars have followed in Kelly Monaco’s dance steps by appearing on the reality competition series Dancing With the Stars.
While one of her General Hospital co-stars has never wanted to take on the tango or foxtrot before, he’s now changing his mind about giving it a shot should the show reach out to him with an invitation!
Steve Burton (Jason) tells Soap Hub that while he’s never imagined himself doing the dance show, he’s re-thinking his stance.
“I [have] said never before, but listen if they want to see Herman Munster dance I’m the guy to call,” Burton says with a laugh. “I would do it for the challenge of it now. Ten years ago, I wouldn’t have but now I would do it for the challenge.”
Besides, Burton quips. It’s his responsibility as a father of three to embarrass his children!
“It would definitely embarrass my daughters,” Burton jokes. “That’d be a reason to do it! My 14-year-old would say ‘Don’t do it,’ and I’d be like, ‘I’m doing it!'”
In addition to Monaco (Sam), several soap stars have gone for the coveted mirror ball trophy over the years.
They include JGH stars Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco) and Antonio Sabato Jr. (ex-Jagger); Days of Our Lives’ Lisa Rinna (ex-Bille); and All My Children’s Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan), Susan Lucci (ex-Erica), Aiden Turner (ex-Aiden), and J.R. Martinez (ex-Brot), who won season 14th along with his partner Karina Smirnoff.
Prior to joining The Bold and the Beautiful as Thorne, Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jax, General Hospital) competed on the show, as well.
If Burton is selected to join the show it’s very likely that whoever his dance partner is would be invited to do a cameo on GH.
Both of Monaco’s partners Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Valentin Chmerkovskiy both ended up on GH. Maksim, in fact, danced with Monaco one year at the Nurses’ Ball.
