Dr. Griffin Monroe’s life has been one heck of a mess on General Hospital, but actor Matt Cohen has plenty to celebrate!
Cohen was born on September 28, 1982, in Miami, Florida, which means he’s turning 36 today! He played football and track in high school and later studied business at Florida State, where he also took some theatre classes.
He moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue his dream of becoming an actor and within the year he signed on with The N network (a programming arm of MTV Networks) as a series regular on the award-winning South of Nowhere, playing charismatic golden boy Aiden.
In 2007, he landed the lead in Columbia Picture’s Boogeyman 2. Cohen also had a recurring role on the CW’s Supernatural as young John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character).
In 2009, the handsome actor starred in such feature films as Chain Letter, The Outside, and Dark House. He later had a recurring role in CW’s 90210 as Jeremy in 2011.
In 2015, he played Levi Sutter in a large four-episode arc on ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder and reprised his role on Supernatural, bringing the span of this role to eight years.
But it was in 2016 that soap fans got to know him when he joined General Hospital as Griffin Monroe, the sexy priest-turned-doctor-turned-ex-priest.
On the personal front, Cohen married Mandy Musgrave in 2011 and together they have one child, a son — Macklin, who was born in 2015.
