Followers of General Hospital star Marcus Coloma know that the actor is also a very talented musician but success wasn’t easy and it certainly wasn’t instant. The actor recently paid tribute to friends who were there for him during the “rough” times that in retrospect weren’t so bad!
“This was several years ago,” Coloma began a recent social media post that contains a video of him and his pal Rob Filios singing a duet.
“At the time I would travel and sell lotion in different stores around California for a couple of weeks, and then come back to LA, and we would make little things, songs or skits. We were both single at the time. I was paying him a little rent to sleep on his couch/futon in his office.”
Most creative folks go through their “starving artist” phase, but Coloma says his wasn’t that bad. “On paper, it sounds like a rough time. But in reality, it was a very creative fulfilling period. It was filmed by my buddy @robfilios twin @jfilios.
“Eventually, I got back to work as an actor, @jfilios @robfilios got married and we all moved out and on,” Coloma continues. “But this reminds me the journey can be just as fun as the destination. Happy Birthday, guys. I know I’m a month early, but just wanted to be one of the first to say it. I win.”
Rob Filios may be familiar to fans of The Stafford Project, the web series that starred Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young and the Restless). He appeared in that series as the character Jonathan. Rob has primarily worked in films in various positions in the sound department. He was a sound mixer on the TV series Ghosted and The Delicate Art of Being Single. James Filios also has sound department credits on some creative projects.
Check out Coloma’s performance in this sweet song in the post below. It tells the story of a buddy who hopes to help his other buddy find a wife. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
