Anna Devane has been away on a mission for what feels like way too long on General Hospital while her portrayer, Finola Hughes, has been on her annual summer hiatus. The actress celebrated a milestone birthday this week and it had her contemplating what really matters in life.
Finola Hughes Muses About Love
While she has been quiet on social media for most of her time away, Hughes recently shared an image of herself — and a second of her children — in which she opened up about what this latest birthday and life mean to her.
“I’m already a couple of champagne glasses in, but here goes, a moment of reflection. Today is a milestone, or not. A birthday of sorts, don’t feel any different honestly, & in the words of Kurt Cobain ‘Nevermind.’ What I do know today is that I believe in love. It’s the reason we all come here, no? To embody that one basic human need, instinct, emotion, feeling, in whatever capacity,” she wrote.
For Her Children
The General Hospital star may be a year older, but Hughes must have a portrait she keeps in a closet that is doing the aging. The flawless star wasn’t done with just those words. She had a lot more to say about love — and those she loves — her children, Dylan, Cash, and Sadie.
“If I have instilled anything in my children it is these few pieces of wisdom; love all things, be kind, work your ass off, dance with joy every chance you get and trust and have faith the world will give you the lessons you need, even the hard ones. This gift of life is fleeting, no more apparent than with each breath, each moment you live.”
Living With Gratitude
Those were definitely words to live by — because there’s nothing like adding another year to one’s age to make you realize that time is flying by and every moment counts. Finola Hughes has led quite a life and she knows she has much for which to be grateful.
“I am/have been incredibly lucky-I’ve had luck thrown at me from all over the place! And for that I am so thankful and grateful for the gifts in my life. The most extraordinary children I share that life with. My partners in crime and my dear, dear honest friends. Godspeed all, hug a human, a dog, a cat, a tree, yourself.” General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
