General Hospital Star Dominic Zamprogna Is A First-Time American Voter

The ability to cast a vote is something that General Hospital star Dominic Zamprogna used to take for granted but after 10 years of not being able to do so here in the United States or in his previous home in Canada, he appreciates it more than ever — and hopes all of you will as well.

Dominic Zamprogna Is Not Throwing Away His Shot

The actor, who recently returned as Dante to Port Charles, tweeted how important voting is and he hopes that you’ll exercise this very important right during the most important election in modern American history.

“Here it is, I voted,” he began, showing his ballot for all to see. “I’m going to go drop it off right now. I haven’t been able to vote anywhere for 10 years. I wasn’t a citizen here, so I couldn’t vote here and I wasn’t a resident in Canada, so I couldn’t vote in Canada.

“My voting privileges were essentially stripped away,” he continued. “This is important to me. I have to say before I could vote anywhere or anytime I wanted in Canada, I didn’t see the big deal that it is. And now that it was taken away from me, I do.” And that realization has had a big impact on the actor — and he has a message for others who may take their vote for granted.

“I hope people who didn’t vote last time get out and vote this time because it’s important. Our immediate lives depend on it, kids lives depend on it and humanity and how we are with each other one on one and when we disagree on things… now we can do that in a civilized way without hate and without division, and with respect and love, that’s all riding on this, this year.”

Zamprogna ended it with one last message he hopes his followers will take to heart. “So get out and vote, it’s your right — don’t take it for granted.” General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
